Hot-Corrosion and Particle Erosion Resistance of Co-Based Brazed Alloy Coatings

Tape brazing constitutes a cost-effective alternative surface protection technology for complex-shaped surfaces. The study explores the characteristics of high-temperature brazed coatings using cobalt-based powder deposited on stainless-steel substrate in order to protect parts subjected hot temperatures wear-exposed environment. Microstructural imaging corroborated with x-ray diffraction analysis showed complex phased structure consisting intermetallic Cr-Ni, C-Co-W Laves type, and chromium carbide phases. properties coatings, targeting corrosion behavior, erosion, wear resistance, microhardness, were evaluated. test was performed 100 h at 750 °C salt mixture 25 wt.% NaCl + 75 Na2SO4. degree attack closely connected exposure temperature, degradation material corresponding mechanisms low-temperature corrosion. erosion tests carried out alumina particles 90° impingement angle. results, correlated microhardness measurements, have shown that Co-based exhibited approximately 40% lower loss compared steel substrate.
